Data Impact is a pioneering company that revolutionized retail analytics with its innovative omnichannel data analysis platform. Founded by Ludovic Gallen and Yacine Terki, Data Impact quickly established itself as a leader in providing actionable insights for for CPG/FMCG brands.
Data Impact's success story is a perfect illustration of Red River West's cross-border Europe-US investment thesis. When we led the company's funding round in 2018, we recognized the immense potential of their blue-ocean retail analytics product and its applicability to the US market. At the time, Data Impact was already working with 70% of the top 50 brands in France, providing comprehensive, accurate, and actionable data to optimize search visibility, media campaigns, and inventory management.
Our investment in Data Impact showcased our commitment to supporting companies with strong potential for international growth. We actively contributed to Data Impact's expansion strategy, particularly in entering the US market. This included organizing roadshows, facilitating the win of their first US customers, and assisting with the opening of their US office and initial hires.
A key part of our support was connecting Data Impact with world-class advisors to accelerate their US market entry. We were instrumental in bringing on board Mitch Barns, Nielsen's former global CEO, whose experience in information services and consumer packaged goods proved invaluable to Data Impact's growth strategy.
The success of Data Impact culminated in its acquisition by NielsenIQ in 2021, less than three years after our initial investment. This acquisition not only validated our investment thesis but also positioned Data Impact to scale its product offering globally, combining NielsenIQ's unmatched retail measurement footprint with Data Impact's granular store-level eCommerce data.
